Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine has filed a lawsuit against photography agency AgNews and photographer Dilson Silva over images showing her with singer Shawn Mendes inside her apartment in Rio de Janeiro's São Conrado neighbourhood. The photos were taken on 24 March 2026. Marquezine seeks 40,000 Brazilian reals (approximately USD 8,000) in damages for moral injury and an immediate court order prohibiting the commercialisation and further distribution of the images.
According to the lawsuit, disclosed by O Globo columnist Ancelmo Gois, the photographs captured a strictly private moment without authorisation and were obtained intrusively. Marquezine's legal team contends that the images were taken inside her residence and therefore fall outside permissible journalistic activity, violating her rights to privacy and personal image. The material was commercialised by AgNews and subsequently reproduced by news websites and social media accounts.
A disputed point concerns the method of photography. Marquezine alleges in the lawsuit that a drone was used to capture the images. Photographer Dilson Silva has publicly denied this account, stating instead that he photographed from a long distance and that the distorted appearance of the photos results from his equipment and the distance from the apartment. The court will determine the circumstances and method of the photographs' production.
Before filing the lawsuit, Marquezine's legal team sent cease-and-desist letters to websites and media outlets that had republished the images, requesting their removal within a specified timeframe. The current legal action targets both AgNews and Silva directly. Neither AgNews nor Silva had responded to media requests for comment at the time of reporting. Both defendants retain the right to present their defence in court proceedings.

Why This Matters
The case involves alleged unauthorized interior photography and subsequent commercial distribution raising questions about privacy rights, image licensing, and media liability in Brazil. Marquezine seeks immediate injunctive relief and damages; the outcome may affect how news agencies and photographers handle private residential imagery and the permissibility of long-distance photography into private spaces. Media outlets that republished the images face potential cease-and-desist enforcement and reputational exposure.
