NTT President Vows to Improve NTT Docomo Quality at Shareholder Meeting

NTT held its annual general meeting of shareholders in Tokyo on June 18, 2026, where President Akira Shimada addressed concerns about the performance of its subsidiary, NTT Docomo. Shimada stated that the company is fully committed to strengthening its customer base and improving service quality at NTT Docomo, which has been underperforming and dragging down NTT's stock price.

The shareholder meeting began at 10 a.m. and lasted about one and a half hours, with approximately 1,630 attendees on-site, similar to the previous year's turnout. Online viewership increased by 3% year-on-year, reaching 7,885 viewers. During the meeting, the company proposed the election of 11 directors, including Shimada himself.

NTT's stock has struggled to rise, partly due to the weak business performance of NTT Docomo. In his remarks, Shimada emphasized efforts to address these issues, stating that the company is working with full force on both customer base reinforcement and quality improvement at Docomo.

The meeting proceeded with the agenda items, including the election of directors, and concluded without any major disruptions. The shareholder attendance figures reflect sustained interest in NTT's corporate direction amid ongoing challenges with its mobile unit.
