Kenny Chesney launched his second residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas on Friday with a special surprise appearance by Eric Church, who briefly forgot the lyrics to his hit song "Springsteen" during the performance.
The Country Music Hall of Famer delivered a 29-song set for a sold-out crowd of nearly 17,000 people. The setlist included fan favorites such as "Here and Now," "Beer in Mexico," "Come Over," and "When I See This Bar." Chesney noted that the Sphere's immersive visuals allow him to take fans on a journey, saying, "You can take them, give them even more of what the song is."
Eric Church surprised the audience during "When I See This Bar," going on to perform "Drink in My Hand" and the fan-favorite "Springsteen." However, as Church began the latter, he momentarily forgot the lyrics. Rather than letting the mishap disrupt the show, he laughed it off and turned to Chesney, saying, "It’s always good to forget your biggest hit."
Chesney, who has experienced similar slip-ups, helped Church by enlisting a fan who had the lyrics on their phone, quickly getting the performance back on track. The unscripted moment delighted the crowd, with many fans taking to social media to praise Church's authenticity and humor.
The show wrapped with a three-song encore of "American Kids," "Anything But Mine," and "Don't Happen Twice." The residency continues with performances through July 11.
