The disruption occurred during Shift I on June 22, 2026, and was reported by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which was contracted to conduct the examination. The agency clarified that the technical issues were localised to this single centre and did not affect the nationwide UGC NET examination.
Only candidates who were physically present at the Jalandhar centre but unable to appear for or complete the examination due to the technical problems are eligible for the re-test. The NTA expressed regret over the inconvenience and stated that the re-examination measure ensures fairness for candidates whose attempts were disrupted through no fault of their own. The agency confirmed that the UGC NET June 2026 examination was not cancelled across the country, with the issue limited to the affected venue.
The re-examination has been scheduled for July 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the same examination centre in Jalandhar. The NTA will issue revised admit cards containing examination schedule details, reporting time, and other necessary instructions for eligible candidates. Affected candidates have been advised to monitor the official NTA website for updates regarding the release of revised admit cards and other examination-related announcements. The decision to conduct a re-test applies exclusively to Shift I candidates from the Jalandhar centre.
