Nottingham Open: Zheng defeats Sakkari in Centre Court thriller

Qinwen Zheng of China defeated sixth-seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece in a closely contested match at the Nottingham Open, winning 4–6, 7–6 (7–1), 6–4 on Centre Court. The victory marked a significant result for Zheng in the grass-court tournament.

Across the venue, multiple matches produced decisive outcomes. In other women's singles action, third-seeded Emma Navarro from the United States defeated Anna Bondar of Hungary 6–7 (6–8), 6–3, 6–2, while Australian Talia Gibson beat British player Francesca Jones 6–3, 5–7, 7–6 (7–4). Britain's Billy Harris (tenth seed) produced an upset victory against Hong Kong's fourth-seeded Coleman Wong 7–5, 3–6, 6–1. Other men's winners included Christopher O'Connell of Australia, who beat Portugal's Henrique Rocha 7–6 (7–2), 6–1, and Switzerland's Remy Bertola, who edged Italy's Luca Nardi 3–6, 7–6 (7–4), 7–6 (7–2).
