Minecraft 26.30 Bedrock Update Launches 'Chaos Cubed' with Sulfur Caves and New Mob

Minecraft has released version 26.30 Bedrock, introducing the 'Chaos Cubed' update that brings significant new features to the game's Overworld. The update centers on the discovery of Sulfur springs and caves, vibrant new biomes filled with distinctive yellow Sulfur blocks and red Cinnabar blocks. These caves feature shallow pools of water, glow lichen, and Sulfur spikes that grow organically from the terrain, creating a visually striking environment for players to explore.

The headline feature of Chaos Cubed is the Sulfur Cube, a new unpredictable mob with a distinctive appetite for blocks. Players can feed the Sulfur Cube various materials to alter its behavior, causing it to bounce, slide, or traverse terrain in different ways. Special blocks like TNT and Magma produce unique results when consumed by the mob, with TNT triggering explosive reactions. Players can capture and transport Sulfur Cubes using buckets, allowing safe relocation from caves to their bases.

The update introduces several new mechanical and building elements. Potent Sulfur blocks create the bubbly springs and can be placed beneath water to generate bubble columns and noxious gas—the latter triggering nausea effects on players and mobs. Geysers form when Magma blocks are placed under potent Sulfur blocks submerged in water, offering both vertical traversal and dramatic landscaping opportunities. Two complete block sets featuring Cinnabar and Sulfur materials allow builders to craft stairs, bricks, and other variants for construction projects.

Beyond new terrain and mobs, the update includes expanded audio content. Composer Paula Ruiz (fingerspit) created new music tracks including 'Bounce,' 'Ebb,' 'Home,' 'Memories,' 'Nightly,' and 'Shores,' which now play across numerous biomes including the new Sulfur Caves, Mesa, Jungle, and Lush Caves. The update also features accessibility improvements, including a new Panorama Scroll Speed slider for video settings and fixes to animation caption generation.
