Fury and Joshua to fight in Cardiff on December 11

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in a heavyweight bout at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on 11 December, marking the culmination of negotiations that have spanned over 15 years. The fight will be broadcast globally on Netflix, with the main event expected to start in the early hours of Saturday morning (UK time) to accommodate US television audiences.

Promoted by Saudi Arabian boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh in collaboration with UFC chief Dana White, the bout brings together two former heavyweight world champions. Both fighters signed contracts for the fight earlier in 2026, but the venue and date remained unconfirmed for months. Cardiff emerged as the agreed location after London's Wembley Stadium and New York's Madison Square Garden were considered as alternatives. Joshua had publicly pushed for the fight to take place in the UK, while Fury had previously suggested alternative opponents including a trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury, 38, stepped out of retirement this year and has since defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach. Joshua, 36, fought YouTuber Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga following his 2024 IBF world title loss to Daniel Dubois. The pair will appear together at a press conference in London on 30 September to begin the official build-up.

Welsh Rugby Union and Cardiff Council officials welcomed the event, noting it would reinforce the city's reputation for major sporting events and bring economic benefits, though some operational details including licensing remain to be finalised. The Principality Stadium has previously hosted late-night boxing events, including Joe Calzaghe's 2007 fight with Mikkel Kessler, which began at 01:00 GMT. Joshua has fought twice at the venue before, against Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker.

The showdown represents what many in British boxing consider the biggest all-British heavyweight clash in modern history. According to Dana White's statement, the combined record of both fighters includes 66 wins and 52 knockouts, along with multiple heavyweight world titles.
