The suspect was apprehended in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, and charges are pending as extradition proceedings to Delaware are initiated.
Wilmington police confirmed the arrest occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the city's Olney neighborhood, near North 9th Street between Lindley Avenue and West Wellens Street. A Toyota RAV4 was towed from the scene. Authorities credited License Plate Readers with playing an instrumental role in tracking the suspect's movements following the shooting.
The incident unfolded at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the hospital located on the 500 block of West 14th Street in Wilmington. Officers responded to reports of gunfire, prompting a lockdown of the hospital. Video footage showed individuals leaving the facility with their hands raised as armed police entered. The lockdown has since been lifted.
Law enforcement sources indicate that preliminary investigative findings suggest the shooting began when a hospital employee opened fire on two other employees. The suspect's identity has not been released, and the names of the victims have also been withheld. The condition of the surviving victim has not been disclosed at this time.
