The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the final answer key for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026, marking a significant milestone in the admission cycle for India's largest undergraduate entrance examination. The final key was prepared following a comprehensive review of objections raised by candidates against the provisional answer key released on June 9, with a challenge submission period closing on June 11. As a result of this evaluation process, NTA removed seven questions from the examination.
The CUET UG 2026 examination was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode between May 11 and June 7 across multiple centres nationwide. The exam attracted massive participation, with 15,68,866 candidates registered and generating approximately 67.56 lakh test instances across 35 shifts. The examination featured 37 subjects comprising 13 languages, 23 domain-specific subjects, and one General Aptitude Test. Under the revised examination structure, students could select a maximum of five subjects, with the majority opting for maximum choices: 8,69,959 candidates registered for five subjects, 3,63,096 for four subjects, and 2,93,660 for three subjects.
With the final answer key now available on the official CUET portal (cuet.nta.nic.in), candidates can access their responses using their application number and password or date of birth. No marks will be awarded for unanswered questions. Satisfaction with the examination process was notably high, with 96.6 percent of candidates receiving one of their preferred examination cities and 79 percent securing their first-choice city allocation.
The release of the final answer key clears the way for result declaration and the university admission process. Unlike a centralized counselling system, admissions through CUET are conducted individually by participating universities, each preparing its own merit list and following distinct eligibility criteria and selection procedures. Candidates are advised to monitor the websites of their target institutions closely, as cut-offs and admission rules vary significantly across universities and colleges.
