India has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with veteran batsman Virat Kohli and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah both included subject to fitness clearance. Shubman Gill will captain the side, which features a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talents as India continues its build-up to the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
Kohli missed the previous ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury sustained during the IPL 2026 final, while Bumrah was rested for both the Test and ODI series against Afghanistan as part of the BCCI workload management plan. Their returns bolster a batting lineup that also includes Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and wicketkeeping options KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan.
Harshit Rana makes a comeback after recovering from a right knee meniscus tear that required surgery and sidelined him from the T20 World Cup and the subsequent IPL season. Spinner Axar Patel returns to the ODI setup in place of Harsh Dubey, while Washington Sundar retains his role as the spin-bowling all-rounder, leaving no place for Ravindra Jadeja. Seam-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya remains absent after suffering a setback during rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Gurnoor Brar, who impressed with seven wickets on his debut against Afghanistan, retains his place, while Prince Yadav makes way for Harshit Rana. The pace attack also includes Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Yadav leads the spin department alongside Axar Patel.
The ODI series fixtures are scheduled for July 14 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, July 16 at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, and July 19 at Lord's in London. The series follows a five-match T20I leg against England starting July 1. Additionally, India will play two T20Is against Ireland on June 26 and 28 before heading to England, with Shreyas Iyer captaining the T20I squad in the absence of Varun Chakaravarthy, who is ruled out due to a left foot injury.
