Liverpool end Barcola talks over £145m PSG valuation gap

Liverpool have ended negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for winger Bradley Barcola after the clubs failed to bridge a significant gap in their valuations. PSG have insisted on a £145 million fee, while Liverpool's opening offer stood at £100 million, creating a £45 million divide that neither club has shown willingness to close. Barcola, the 23-year-old France international, has expressed a desire to join Liverpool and is entering the final two years of his PSG contract, having indicated he will not renew terms with the French champions.

PSG manager Luis Enrique declined to discuss Barcola's future when questioned by the media, stating: "I don't know and I don't want to speak about any player individually, because it's always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player." Reports suggest personal terms between Barcola and Liverpool have already been agreed, with the transfer fee remaining the only sticking point. Barcola has won nine major trophies at PSG in the past two years, including two Champions League titles.

With the transfer window entering its final three weeks and negotiations at an impasse, Liverpool have shifted focus to alternative targets. Manager Andoni Iraola, in his first window at Anfield following Mohamed Salah's departure to Trabzonspor as a free agent, is pursuing 18-year-old PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye. Iraola has confirmed that wingers remain a priority, stating Liverpool plan to sign multiple attacking options before the deadline, including younger players to develop alongside more experienced signings.

PSG's recent acquisitions of Magnes Akliouche from Monaco and advanced negotiations with Ajax for Mika Godts do not indicate Barcola is viewed as surplus, with the French club preferring to retain the winger. Arsenal have also registered interest in Barcola and could benefit if Liverpool's withdrawal clears the path for a bid, though Arsenal have already added Christos Tzolis this summer and recently signed Bruno Guimaraes for £75 million.
