Samsung Rolls Out One UI 9.0 for Galaxy S26 Series with AI Features
Samsung has released One UI 9.0 based on Android 17 for the Galaxy S26 series as of September 16, 2026, starting in South Korea and the U.S. with planned global expansion. The update features AI-driven tools including My FanCam for automatic video reframing, Now Nudge for context-aware suggestions, enhanced privacy protections, and expanded Scam Detection capabilities.
Quick Facts
- Released stable One UI 9.0 update based on Android 17
- Introduced My FanCam feature for automatic video tracking
- Added Now Nudge for context-aware suggestions
- Expanded Now Brief with generative and editable cards
- Enhanced Interpreter with Thread View and faster Conversation Mode

Samsung has officially released One UI 9.0, based on Android 17, for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra starting September 16, 2026. The update initially became available in South Korea and the United States, with a gradual global rollout planned for other regions and compatible Galaxy devices.
The update introduces several AI-powered features designed to enhance content creation and daily usability. My FanCam automatically tracks and reframes a selected person in previously recorded videos, centering them without manual editing. Now Nudge analyzes on-device context to suggest relevant actions, such as opening booking details from a message conversation. Now Brief has been expanded with generative and editable cards that allow users to customize daily summaries with health, weather, and video information. Creative Studio now offers image ideas based on upcoming events, while the Interpreter tool includes improved Thread View for viewing conversation history and faster Conversation Mode with reduced latency on compatible Galaxy Buds.
Privacy and security enhancements include Security Brief, which displays warnings about potentially malicious apps, unknown sources, and excessive permissions within Now Brief. Privacy Alerts uses on-device AI to detect suspicious background app access to permissions such as location, camera, and microphone, alerting users who can then adjust settings accordingly. Scam Detection, which identifies potentially fraudulent calls, has expanded to Japan, Canada, and India with additional language support. Document Scan has improved handling of curved book pages and folded paper, Voice Recorder now generates structured AI summaries with headings and tables, and a new Warranty and Care section in Settings allows users to check device warranties, perform self-diagnostics, estimate repair costs, manage Samsung Care+, and schedule service appointments.
The update follows a beta period that began in May 2026 with seven beta releases before the stable launch. The firmware version for South Korea is S94xNKSU4BZ16 with a download size of approximately 550MB for beta testers, though other users may experience larger downloads. The update also includes the September 2026 security patch. Samsung has indicated that One UI 9 will gradually roll out to additional Galaxy devices including the S25 series, S24 series, S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models, and select Galaxy Tab models, though a complete device list has not been published.
Why This Matters
Samsung's One UI 9.0 deployment affects approximately 200 million+ Galaxy device users with staged rollout beginning in South Korea and the US, expanding to other Galaxy product lines (S25, S24, S23, Z Fold/Flip, Galaxy Tab models). The update introduces on-device AI processing for privacy-preserved features (My FanCam video tracking, Now Nudge suggestions, Privacy Alerts for background app access monitoring) and expands Scam Detection to Japan, Canada, and India. Device owners will receive September 2026 security patches and new cost-estimation tools for repair services. Adoption timeline and full compatible device list remain to be published.
