Jakarta – Female police negotiators from the Subdit Dalmas (Emergency Response Sub-Directorate) of Jakarta Metro Police (Polda Metro Jaya) deployed humanitarian services to demonstrate participants gathered in the South Monas Crossing area on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. The operation was led by Kompol Sri Ernawati, Chief of Negotiations, along with a team of female negotiators tasked with ensuring the public expression activity remained safe, orderly, humane, and conducive.
The female officers employed persuasive engagement and established direct communication with protest participants. Beyond providing security and civil order messaging, they offered humanitarian assistance to those present at the location. In particular, negotiators distributed mineral water and bread to demonstrators, a gesture that was positively received by participants.
Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for Jakarta Metro Police, stated that the presence of female negotiators represents the police commitment to providing excellent service to the public, especially during public demonstrations. "Police are here to serve and secure society. In every public expression activity, we prioritize humanistic, persuasive, and professional approaches to ensure activities run safely and orderly," Hermanto said on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Personnel were specifically instructed to maintain composure, prioritize communication, and remain unresponsive to provocations despite field dynamics. Authorities appealed to all protest participants to maintain order, respect other road users, and express their aspirations peacefully.
Jakarta Metro Police expressed hope that the public demonstration would proceed in an orderly and conducive manner while maintaining security and comfort for residents in the surrounding area.
Why This Matters

For readers concerned with civil liberties and police accountability, it illustrates how law enforcement can balance security needs with respect for protesters' rights. The deployment of female negotiators and focus on persuasive engagement offers a model for how authorities in major cities can manage large demonstrations while maintaining public trust and minimizing risk of conflict.
