US and Iran to Sign Agreement at Swiss Burgenstock on June 19

The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) confirmed on June 16 that a US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding will be signed at Burgenstock in the canton of Nidwalden on June 19. FDFA spokesperson Pierre-Alain Eltschinger announced that Switzerland has been in close contact with the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar regarding the signing ceremony. The location at Burgenstock was jointly proposed by the Pakistani and Qatari mediators as well as by both the US and Iran themselves. Switzerland is serving as a facilitator in the diplomatic process, providing the practical and diplomatic conditions necessary to enable the meeting to proceed on Swiss territory. The agreement represents a significant diplomatic development involving two major parties mediated through Pakistan and Qatar.
