Wembley Stadium has relaxed its usual water bottle policy for Harry Styles' ongoing residency, allowing fans to bring empty 500ml metal or hard plastic bottles into the venue as temperatures in London are forecast to reach 35°C. The change, confirmed ahead of the fifth night of the 'Together, Together' tour on June 23, comes as the Met Office issued a rare red extreme heat warning for parts of southern England. Free refill stations and free sun cream will be available inside the stadium to help concertgoers stay safe.
Previously, only clear plastic bottles without lids were permitted, and standing-area fans had to decant water into cups. The new policy permits both hard plastic and metal bottles, while empty soft-plastic bottles up to 500ml are also allowed. Bottled water sold at bars will be discounted by 50 per cent, a move that has drawn criticism from some fans who argue water should be free, especially in crowded conditions. Wembley officials stated that the policy has been relaxed for recent events as temperatures have risen.
Organisers have issued additional health and safety advice, urging attendees to stay hydrated, take regular breaks in shaded areas, wear breathable clothing, apply sun cream, and avoid arriving too early to reduce time spent in direct sunlight. Free sun cream will be handed out at information points throughout the venue. The stadium's 90,000-seat capacity means large crowds are expected, with some fans arriving overnight to secure barrier spots.
Harry Styles' 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium, which began on June 12 and runs until July 4, is the longest single-artist run in the venue's history, surpassing Coldplay's 10-night series in 2025 and Taylor Swift's eight-night solo-artist record in 2024. Each show features special guest Shania Twain. During an earlier performance, Styles paused his song 'Taste Back' to assist security when a fan appeared to be in distress, highlighting the importance of fan welfare amid the heat.
The Met Office red warning, in effect from Wednesday morning into Thursday night, could bring temperatures as high as 38°C in parts of southern England and southeast Wales. Despite the extreme heat, all scheduled shows are expected to proceed as planned with enhanced safety measures in place.
Why This Matters
This policy adjustment reflects real-time venue safety management in response to extreme weather, setting a precedent for how large-scale events can adapt to climate challenges. For concertgoers, it directly improves access to hydration—a critical health factor during heat waves—while the 50% water discount offers some relief, though free water remains a contentious issue. The story illustrates the tension between commercial interests and public health, and highlights how iconic venues are balancing operational constraints with attendee welfare during increasingly frequent extreme heat events.
