Fuji TV has released the promotional poster for its upcoming Thursday drama 'Last Note,' starring Yuki Uchida and Takuto Teranishi. The poster shows the two leads laughing together, but it is emblazoned with contrasting taglines: "There's no way I'd fall for a man like him" and "I can't allow myself to fall for a woman like her." These captions hint at the characters' hidden true feelings, which stem from the pivotal event that sparked their relationship. The series, a completely original script, follows a 49-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man from vastly different backgrounds who are drawn into the most intense romance of their lives after a disastrous first meeting.
'Last Note' is set to premiere on July 9, airing every Thursday at 10:00 p.m. on Fuji TV's Thursday Theatre slot. The title refers to the final scent of a perfume that changes over time, symbolizing the lingering emotions the protagonists have kept hidden. The drama marks Uchida's return as the lead of a Fuji TV series since 'Give Me Wings' in 1996, and it is Teranishi's first lead role in a commercial broadcast drama. Teranishi, a member of the group timelesz, rose to prominence through the audition program 'timelesz project -AUDITION-' in 2025.
The poster follows the teaser visual released earlier, which depicted the characters on a date and generated buzz for the chemistry between the two actors. The art director, Ryohei Yabasaki of Dentsu, explained the creative vision: "We aimed for a strong contrast between the beautiful world of the two, seemingly close and happy, and the biting taglines, conscious of the 20-year age gap in their adult romance. The delicate expressions of the lead actors help convey a sense of danger unique to 'Last Note,' not just beauty."
On the same day the poster was unveiled, a 30-second teaser movie aired following the final episode of the Thursday drama 'Tonight, in the Secret Kitchen.' The clip offers glimpses of the characters' conflicting emotions. The drama is produced by Reiko Misaki, known for works like 'Hirugao' and 'Anata ga Shite Kurenakute mo,' and written by Tomomi Matoba, who handled 'Otto yo, Shinde Kurenai ka'.
The story centers on Aoi Ichinose, a 49-year-old woman who has given up on change and lives a routine life, and Subaru Higuchi, a 30-year-old man who has hidden his true dreams due to a harsh upbringing. Their chance encounter in a perfume company setting gradually unlocks their suppressed feelings, leading to a passionate yet challenging love affair. Additional cast and detailed plot points are expected to be announced soon.

Why This Matters
For viewers interested in Japanese drama, this series offers a fresh take on adult romance with a 20-year age gap, featuring a returning Fuji TV lead (Yuki Uchida) after decades and a breakout role for Takuto Teranishi from the popular group timelesz. The poster's contrast between smiles and raw taglines signals a psychologically complex narrative. The drama airs in a prime Thursday 10 PM slot, so it competes with other major titles—understanding its unique selling points (original script, seasoned producer and writer) helps anticipate its reception and cultural impact.
