Hoshino Resorts closes Resonare Osaka on November 23 after four years
Hoshino Resorts is closing Resonare Osaka, a family-focused hotel in Osaka's Nanko district, on November 23, 2026, less than four years after opening. The closure prompted expressions of nostalgia on social media. Operations will consolidate under Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay to prepare for increased lodging demand from the planned 2030 Osaka Integrated Resort.

- Hoshino Resorts

Hoshino Resorts will close its family-oriented Resonare Osaka hotel in Osaka's Nanko district on November 23, 2026, less than four years after its December 2022 opening. The hotel operated 48 of the 480 rooms in the building shared with the Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay, occupying upper floors and a dedicated section.
Resonare Osaka became popular with families for its distinctive amenities, particularly a children's "atelier" on the 28th floor—Japan's largest at approximately 470 square meters. The atelier allowed children to draw freely on windows overlooking Osaka Bay and participate in creative workshops. The closure prompted widespread expressions of nostalgia on social media, with visitors posting comments such as "It was amazing," "the children's play area was so good," and "my child cried not wanting to leave."
Hoshino Resorts cited overlapping target demographics between Resonare Osaka and its OMO7 Osaka property in Shin-Imamiya as a factor in the decision. The company is concentrating operational resources on OMO7 Osaka and plans to expand the Resonare brand to Fukui in September 2027. Following the closure, Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay will assume unified operation of all 480 rooms and associated facilities.
The hotel and its operators are positioning the change in anticipation of increased lodging demand from the Osaka Integrated Resort (IR), scheduled to open in the Yumeshima area around 2030. Osaka's accommodation market has faced weak supply-and-demand conditions following the closure of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo and a decline in visitors from China. Unified management of the Grand Prince Hotel is intended to maximize revenue when IR-related tourism increases.
Why This Matters
Hoshino Resorts is consolidating its Osaka lodging portfolio ahead of the 2030 Osaka Integrated Resort opening, affecting supply planning in a market that has faced weak demand since the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The closure eliminates a 48-room property marketed to families and redirects operational focus to OMO7 Osaka and regional expansion, while unified management of the Grand Prince Hotel's 480 rooms is intended to maximize occupancy and revenue capture when IR-related tourism increases around 2030.
