GTA VI Pre-Download Launches November 10, Requires 212GB Storage

Rockstar Games announced that pre-downloading Grand Theft Auto VI will require up to 212GB of storage space on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, with pre-download beginning November 10, 2026. The game launches globally on November 19.

Pre-download timing differs by platform. On PlayStation 5, pre-download starts at midnight local time on November 10 in each player's region. On Xbox Series X|S, pre-download begins at 00:00 GMT on November 10 (equivalent to 21:00 BRT on November 9 in Brazil, and 7:00 PM EST on November 9 in New York). Pre-ordering the game is required to access pre-download; pre-order does not trigger automatic downloading, and players must manually initiate the pre-download from the game's store page starting November 10.

Rockstar confirmed the storage requirement applies "depending on your device," indicating the file size may vary across platforms. The company recommends players clear ample storage space before beginning pre-download to avoid issues. Physical code-in-box versions for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be available from retailers starting November 12, allowing players to obtain download codes before the official release.

On November 19, Rockstar will release free digital downloads including official cover art poster and a map of Leonida, the fictional state setting of the game. A double-sided physical poster version will be sold via the Rockstar Store for $0.99 or offered free with purchases. GTA VI is exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; no PC version has been announced. The game is priced at $79.99 and is available only via digital download.
