Saymon Sousa Silva, a 39-year-old businessman, died after the pickup truck he was driving overturned on BR-153 near Ribeirão Água Fria bridge in Guaraí, Tocantins, on Wednesday, September 30. Silva was the sole occupant of the vehicle. After the crash, he became trapped in the wreckage and was rescued by the Military Fire Department. He was transported in critical condition to Hospital Regional de Guaraí but succumbed to his injuries at the facility.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) responded to the accident at kilometre 309 of the highway, near the border with Presidente Kennedy. Authorities stated that the causes and dynamics of the crash remain under investigation. The Legal Medicine Centre of Paraíso do Tocantins conducted a necropsy on Silva's body, which was subsequently released to his family.
According to family statements, Silva's body was transferred to Cidelândia, Maranhão, where a wake and funeral were held. The municipality of Cidelândia issued a statement expressing condolences regarding his death.
