India clinches 10 gold medals at Asian Games 2026, leads archery sweep on Day 11

India delivered a dominant performance on Day 11 of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, securing four gold medals—three in compound archery and one in shooting—to reach a total of 10 gold medals and 60 overall medals. The strong showing propelled India to seventh place in the medal tally, surpassing Iran.

The archery dominance began with India's women's compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep, and Taniparthi Chikitha defeating China to claim gold. The mixed compound archery pair of Taniparthi Chikitha and Sahil Jadhav also won gold, and the men's compound team of Sahil Jadhav, Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam, and Kushal Dalal defeated China 238–237 to secure a third gold medal in the sport. In shooting, Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai won gold in the trap mixed team event, with Dhanda capturing her second consecutive gold medal after winning the individual trap gold on Day 10.

India's wrestling contingent saw mixed results. Sunil Kumar claimed bronze in men's Greco-Roman 87kg, becoming the first Indian to win two medals in the discipline at the Asian Games after also medaling at the previous edition. However, Commonwealth Games champion Asmita De was eliminated without a medal in the women's 48kg bronze match, losing to Mongolia's Narantsetseg Gunbaatar. Kapil Pokhariya secured bronze in the men's 90kg division despite losing his semifinal to Uzbekistan's Turabek Khabibullaev.

On Day 12 (September 30), India's athletes face a packed schedule spanning archery quarterfinals and semifinals, wrestling preliminaries, boxing semifinals, golf, shooting, cycling, judo, and team sports including women's hockey versus South Korea and men's cricket against Sri Lanka for a place in the final. The compound archery team events continue with potential medal opportunities in women's and mixed team categories.
