USMNT beats Mexico 1-0 in international friendly

The United States men's national team defeated Mexico 1-0 in an international friendly on October 3, 2026, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Julian Hall scored the opening goal in the first half after Gio Reyna delivered a low cross from the goal line and Mexico goalkeeper Raúl Rangel failed to clear the ball. The victory extended the USMNT's strong form under manager Mauricio Pochettino, following earlier wins over Peru (4-1) and Chile (4-2) in the same international window. Mexico, managed by Rafa Márquez in his inaugural cycle, sought to build on back-to-back 1-1 draws against Colombia and Peru but could not find the net despite multiple chances, including missed opportunities from Santiago Giménez. The match marked the first outing for newly appointed USMNT captain Tyler Adams and featured several debuts and youth players for both teams. Christian Pulisic was absent for the USMNT, while Mexico's teenage prospect Gilberto Mora did not start due to ongoing physical concerns, according to Márquez. The match was broadcast live on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Telemundo, and Universo.
