Bayern Munich routs Magdeburg 6-1 in DFB-Pokal; Olise becomes top scorer

Bayern Munich advanced to the third round of the DFB-Pokal with a commanding 6-1 victory over second-division FC Magdeburg on October 28, 2026, at the Allianz Arena. Michael Olise delivered a standout performance with two goals and an assist, while Alphonso Davies came off the bench at half-time to score once and create two further goals. The result saw Bayern's attacking dominance prove decisive after a competitive first half in which Magdeburg equalized through Mateusz Zukowski's curled effort in the 15th minute.

Olise struck first in the 10th minute from a cross by Ismael Saibari, then assisted Saibari's goal in the 21st minute. Zukowski's equalizer briefly troubled Bayern's supporters, but Saibari restored Bayern's lead before the interval. The second half tilted decisively in Bayern's favour following Davies' introduction. He won a penalty that Olise converted in the 51st minute, then scored from a Lennart Karl pass in the 70th minute. Nathaniel Brown added a fifth in the 73rd from a Davies assist, and substitute David Santos completed the rout with a 25-yard strike in stoppage time from a Josip Stanisic pass.

Olise's two goals took his season tally to 12 across all competitions, making him Bayern's leading scorer and surpassing Harry Kane, who had accumulated 10 goals and was rested for the match following his Ballon d'Or award on Monday. Olise also moved level with Kane on 24 total goal contributions (goals plus assists) across Europe's major leagues this season, behind only Barcelona's Lamine Yamal on 25. Bayern dominated possession at 63% and recorded 19 shots to Magdeburg's nine. Manager Aaron Danks deputized for recovering head coach Vincent Kompany, with his half-time substitution proving pivotal to the outcome.
