Brewers One Win From World Series, Lead Dodgers 3-0 in NLCS

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday, extending their series lead to 3-0 and putting the defending champions on the brink of elimination.

Jackson Chourio set the tone immediately, launching a home run on the first pitch of the game from Dodgers starter Blake Snell. The 22-year-old's leadoff shot into the pavilion seats gave the Brewers an early 1-0 lead. That score held for five innings as Snell settled into a dominant rhythm, retiring 18 of the next 20 batters and striking out nine overall.

The game swung decisively in the seventh inning when Brewers relief ace Abner Uribe, who had not allowed an earned run in his previous 11 appearances, faltered after the Dodgers tied the game 2-1 with a two-run double from Will Smith in the sixth. Andrew Vaughn's walk set up Jake Bauers, who worked an 11-pitch at-bat before hitting a two-run home run off Snell's 99th pitch to give Milwaukee a 3-2 lead. Garrett Mitchell followed immediately with another two-run homer, extending the Brewers' advantage to 5-2. Additional runs in the eighth and ninth innings sealed the 6-2 victory.

The Brewers' offensive display marked a notable shift in the series dynamics. Milwaukee, tied for 28th in home runs during the regular season, has now out-homered Los Angeles 5-0 across the NLCS. Brewers starting pitcher Robert Gasser pitched five scoreless innings despite allowing the Dodgers to generate minimal offensive production.

With the 3-0 lead, the Brewers stand one win away from their first World Series appearance since 1982. The Dodgers, winners of the last two World Series, now face an elimination game at Dodger Stadium on Thursday. Only one team in MLB history—the 2004 Boston Red Sox—has successfully come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was famously part of that Red Sox team that achieved the comeback against the New York Yankees.
