Pokémon UNITE shuts down March 23, 2027, after five-year run
Pokémon UNITE, the free-to-play MOBA released in July 2021, will shut down on March 23, 2027. In-game purchases were suspended immediately upon announcement on October 27, 2026, with a final competitive tournament scheduled for March 20–21, 2027.
Quick Facts
- Service shutdown for Pokémon UNITE
- Suspension of Aeos Gem sales
- Suspension of new UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals
- Release of special event and Library feature
- Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament qualifiers and finals

The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group announced on October 27, 2026, that Pokémon UNITE will cease service on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. Both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions (iOS and Android) will shut down simultaneously. The game, which launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and on mobile platforms on September 22, 2021, will end after nearly six years of operation.
Effective immediately, in-game purchases have been suspended. Sales of Aeos Gems, the game's premium currency, stopped on October 27 at 05:00 UTC. Players with existing Aeos Gems can continue spending them until shutdown. New sign-ups for the UNITE Club monthly membership have also halted, and automatic renewals for current members have been disabled; existing members retain benefits through their current billing period. Previously purchased gems cannot be refunded.
The Pokémon Company is providing limited continuity for players. On November 12, 2026, an update will introduce a special event offering previously released items, including Unite Licenses and Holowear, as well as a "Library" feature. This feature will allow players to view battle records, acquired licenses, and other in-game content after service ends—but only if they download the required data before the shutdown date. The Library feature cannot transfer data between devices and will receive no support after service ends.
Competitive play will continue until the final days. The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament, the game's final competitive event, will hold qualifiers beginning December 5, 2026, with finals scheduled for March 20–21, 2027—two days before service ends. Pokémon UNITE was featured as an official esports medal event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September 2026, where 58 players from 10 countries competed and South Korea earned a bronze medal. The game was previously excluded from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships in favour of this standalone tournament.
After March 23, 2027, players will no longer be able to log in or participate in battles. The Pokémon UNITE Game Content Guidelines for Online Platforms will no longer be published or maintained, and The Pokémon Company will cease providing support for use of game videos and images.
Why This Matters
Pokémon UNITE players will lose access to the game and all in-game content after March 23, 2027. In-game purchases are already suspended, and previously purchased premium currency cannot be refunded. Players who wish to preserve their game records and acquired licenses must download Library feature data before shutdown. The competitive esports calendar shifts away from Pokémon UNITE toward other franchise titles at the 2027 World Championships.
