Mbappé scores twice as Real Madrid stuns Barcelona 2-1 in El Clásico

Real Madrid defeated La Liga leaders Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou in the first El Clásico of the 2026-27 season on October 25, 2026. Kylian Mbappé scored both goals for Real Madrid—opening the scoring in the 41st minute from close range after a deflection off Gerard Martín's clearance, and adding the decisive second goal in the 87th minute following a swift attack initiated by Eduardo Camavinga down the right wing.

Barcelona equalized through Raphinha in the 61st minute, leveling a match that had been controlled by Real Madrid's attacking play. The result marked Barcelona's first La Liga defeat of the season, ending their unbeaten run in the league after nine consecutive wins. Barcelona had entered the fixture aiming to recover from a 4-2 Champions League group-stage loss to Paris Saint-Germain three days earlier under manager Hansi Flick.

The loss also represented Barcelona's first competitive defeat of the 2026-27 campaign in any competition. Real Madrid, managed by José Mourinho, had been six points behind Barcelona before the match and sitting in third place. Mbappé's brace brought his La Liga tally to 11 goals for the season. The victory narrowed Barcelona's league lead, though the exact final points margin depends on the teams' respective records across all 38 matches.
