Amazon Prime Video will release Blade Runner 2099, an eight-episode limited series, on November 25, 2026, with all episodes available simultaneously. The show is set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049 in a Los Angeles that has been rebuilt by forces other than humanity. The story follows Cora, a human fugitive who assumes the identity of a Blade Runner, and Olwen, a replicant nearing the end of her life, as they partner to pursue a runaway hiding information that could destabilize their city.
The series stars Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh and Euphoria breakout Hunter Schafer in lead roles, alongside series regulars Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben. Recurring guest stars include Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi. Silka Luisa, known for her work on Apple TV's Shining Girls, serves as showrunner. Ridley Scott, director of the original 1982 Blade Runner film, executive produces alongside Jonathan van Tulleken, who directs the first two episodes.
Production took place primarily at Prague's Barrandov Studios in the Czech Republic, with additional filming in Barcelona. The creative team includes executive producers from Alcon Entertainment, Scott Free Productions, and other collaborators, with Michael Green among the credited producers. The first teaser trailer was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, 2026, showcasing the series' dystopian visual style and thematic elements consistent with the Blade Runner franchise.
The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. This marks the franchise's return to screens nine years after the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. Development of the television adaptation began in 2022.

Why This Matters
Prime Video's release on November 25, 2026, marks the franchise's first television series in nine years since Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and expands the IP across streaming platforms. The simultaneous global release to 240+ territories positions the show as a major tentpole release for Amazon's premium content strategy; production partnerships with Ridley Scott (original 1982 director) and cast headliners (Yeoh, Schafer) signal significant budget allocation. Stakeholders include Amazon's content division, Alcon Entertainment, Scott Free Productions, and international audiences in the sci-fi genre.
