First Lady Melania Trump hosts Russia, Ukraine at White House after Oleshky ceasefire

The meeting marks a documented White House diplomatic event involving active parties to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. A six-day humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky enabled evacuation of civilians and delivery of aid to a population facing documented shortages. Measurable follow-on effects include planned trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi and continued U.S. diplomatic engagement on prisoner exchanges, humanitarian aid, and peace talks. The gathering occurs amid a monthslong deadlock in negotiation timelines, making ceasefire extension and negotiation progress the primary observable stakes for conflict-affected populations and involved governments.
