Presley Gerber, Son of Cindy Crawford, Dies at 27; Overdose Suspected

Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and entrepreneur Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at age 27 at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles. His death is being investigated as a suspected overdose by Santa Monica police, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records. An autopsy was performed, but additional testing is required to determine an official cause of death.

Gerber was an accomplished model who signed with IMG Models at age 15 and made his runway debut for Moschino in 2016. He worked with major brands including Calvin Klein, Celine, Dolce & Gabbana, and Pepsi, including a 2018 Super Bowl advertisement alongside his mother that referenced her famous 1992 Pepsi commercial. He was the older brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber and was raised in Malibu, California, born in 1999.

Gerber had been open about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, documenting his journey on social media through an Instagram "Mental Health Mondays" series where he shared wellness tips and personal experiences. In a 2023 podcast appearance on Studio 22, he stated his goal was to help others coping with similar difficulties: "I mean it could be anything, and there's no judgment." In July 2025, he described how reduced physical activity after beginning his modeling career led to increased medication and declining quality of life. In March 2026, he posted a video from Mexico discussing plans to undergo ibogaine treatment, a psychedelic substance being studied for opioid addiction and PTSD, though it is federally banned in the United States.

His sister Kaia Gerber praised him in a recent Vogue interview for his willingness to be vulnerable: "There's only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you're ashamed of them." Rande Gerber's business ventures include restaurants, nightlife companies, and Casamigos tequila, which he cofounded with George Clooney and sold to Diageo for $1 billion.
