Presley Gerber, model and Cindy Crawford's son, dies at 27

Presley Gerber, son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died on September 20 at age 27 at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles. Santa Monica police responded to reports of a cardiac arrest and suspected overdose at the facility at 9:35 a.m. Officers found him unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is investigating his death as a suspected overdose. An autopsy was performed on September 21, but the cause and manner of death were deferred pending additional testing, which officials said could take several months to complete. Police stated there is no indication of foul play.

Gerber, who was born in California on July 2, 1999, began his modeling career at age 15 when he signed with IMG Models. He made his runway debut at the Moschino Resort 2017 show in Los Angeles in 2016, and subsequently appeared in shows and campaigns for brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Celine, Burberry, and Bottega Veneta. He also appeared in advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi, and Omega, and was featured in publications including GQ Style and The New York Times Style Magazine. According to his modeling agency, he also worked as an investor and entrepreneur.

In recent years, Gerber had spoken openly about struggles with mental health and substance abuse. In a 2023 podcast appearance, he stated that raising awareness about mental health through his platform was "a very big part" of his life. He initiated a program called "Mental Health Mondays" and collaborated with nonprofits including A Sense of Home, a Los Angeles-based homeless support organization. In December 2025, he posted a video on Instagram discussing prescription medications including antidepressants and anti-panic medications, stating he had "lost a lot of things in many forms recently" but acknowledging this was not an excuse. His mother commented on the video: "Presley, we love you. You are not alone."

In a September 2026 Vogue feature, his sister Kaia Gerber, also a model and actress, disclosed that her brother had struggled with addiction and described how this affected the family dynamic. She praised his role in the family, saying he had become "like a teacher" by choosing to be authentic for others' benefit. Cindy Crawford posted a birthday tribute to Presley on his 27th birthday in July 2026, writing: "I am so proud of the amazing man you have become, but you will always be my little boy."

The family released a statement requesting privacy during this difficult time. Public figures including Paris Hilton shared condolences on social media, with Hilton describing Gerber as having "such a beautiful soul" and noting his kindness and integrity.
